In the Beginning...There Was B'resheet!

by Heidi Tarshish, B'resheet Director

Regardless of the weather outside, feel it warm up quickly, when you come to B'resheet! As we sit in our circle, with arms around one another's shoulders, we welcome Shabbat and each other as we sing the Ma Tovu. Each Shabbat morning we join together with our Shabbat buddies, snow, rain or shine. We welcome all of you, under the age of 10, to be part of our chevra. We play games, make new friends and see old friends, lead our own service, talk about the Torah portion and relate it to our own lives. We discuss our week, have a snack, and there's always someone with whom to play, talk, or just relax. No reservation is necessary! Come try us out! It may become a wonderful habit. We would love to have you there. See you next Shabbat!

The 2008-2009 school year is underway!  There are twenty students this year and almost as many tutors.  Alef students will be working on torah trope; Bet students will add the Shacharit service to their knowledge base; Gimel students will refined their knowledge and skills as they prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.  Prozdor worked on ethical and social issues with their teachers.  And EVERYONE reads Torah and leads services at various times!
