B'nai Emet -> Departments -> Education Programs -> Shabbat Morning ProgramsIn the Beginning...There Was B'resheet!by Heidi Tarshish, B'resheet Director It may be cold outside, but feel it warm up quickly by coming to B'resheet!
As we sit in our circle, with arms around one another's shoulders, we welcome Shabbat
and each other as we sing the Ma Tovu. Each Shabbat morning we
join together with our Shabbat buddies, snow, rain or shine. We welcome
all of you, under the age of 10, to be part of our chevra. We play games,
make new friends and see old friends, lead our own service, talk about the Torah
portion and relate it to our own lives. We discuss our week, have a snack, and
there's always someone with whom to play, talk, or just relax. No reservation is
necessary! Come try us out! It may become a wonderful habit. We would love to
have you there. See you next Shabbat!
Torah Explorersby Jeannie Kaufman (coming soon . . .) Shabbat School Updateby Mike Lurie, Shabbat School Coordinator The 2007-2008 school year is behind us - PHEW! There were twenty-four students this year and almost as many tutors. Alef students worked on torah trope; Bet students learned to become familiar with the siddur; Gimel students refined their knowledge as they prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Prozdor worked on ethical and social issues with Rabbi Woolf. Planning for 2008-2009 is already underway. Registration forms were mailed during the week of June 16, 2008. If you have not yet received yours, please contact the office! Several meetings will take place this summer with the Rabbi and Cantor to discuss the curriculum and schedule for the next year. We have some changes in store which will provide every student more opportunities to be on the bima leading services. Tutors will also be treated to some TLC next year! |
