Full Day Programming

B’nai Emet’s Early Childhood Education Department offers programming from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 4:00 p.m. on Friday.  Children may attend Daycare from 7:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m.  Preschool starts at 9:15 a.m. where children are placed in age-appropriate preschool classes.  At 12:45 p.m., those who have registered for Daycare are placed in age-appropriate programs.

Following are detailed descriptions of the various programs.  Please note your child will only participate in age-appropriate programming for which you have registered.

Classes in the Morning

16 to 23 Months

Meets from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 daily.  You may enroll your child 2, 3 or 4 mornings per week (may attend Daycare before and after class).  In this class, we emphasize separation from parents.  Your child learns that people leave and return and, in the meantime, they have fun.  With a primarily social emphasis, your child will also learn to follow instructions, cooperate, routines, a few rules, colors, songs, holidays, and many new craft experiences.

2 Year Old Class

Meets 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 daily.  You may enroll your child for 2 to 5 mornings per week providing full care.  Children are eligible to attend Daycare before and after classes.

The primary emphasis in this class is socialization.  The children learn how to be part of a group through circle time, learn to share, take turns, and have lots of opportunities to expand their ever-growing vocabulary.  Besides reinforcing toilet training, we teach colors, shapes, and holidays.  The children hear stories, color and paint, and learn to enjoy music through songs, fingerplays, and rhythm instruments.  Your child has many opportunities to develop language skills and both large and small motor development skills in this class.

3 Year Old Class

Meets 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 daily.  You may enroll your child for up to five mornings per week providing full programming.  Children are eligible to attend Daycare before and after classes.

Making friends and nurturing independence in everyday activities are taught (i.e.:  dressing, toileting, buttoning).  We may introduce the alphabet consonant sounds in our Bridge to Reading curriculum via creative art projects, music, cooking, and field trips.

3 and 4 Year Old Class

Meets 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 daily.  You may enroll your child for 2, 3, 4, or 5 mornings per week providing full programming.  Children are eligible to attend Daycare before and after classes.

A mixed age class gives your child the opportunity to learn how to be both a helper and a leader.  Socialization skills with different ages help solidify friendships.  The alphabet lessons as well as the craft projects coordinate with such exciting units as transportation, animals, five senses, weather, holidays, music, and computers.

Pre Kindergarten – 4 and 5 Year Olds Only (Year Before Kindergarten)

Meets 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 daily.  Children may attend Daycare both before and after Preschool class.

Designed for the pre-kindergartener, this class prepares your child for academic experiences such as writing and pre-reading skills, number activities, and group discussion combined with science, social studies, and art.  We learn how to cooperate, share, be responsible, and behave in a group, as well as have lots of opportunities for free expression and play.

Ni-Nite At Noontime

Our nappers are accommodated with cots in a staffed nap room from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m.  Each child that stays on a regular basis is assigned a permanent cot.  Families supply a blanket, sheet, and special resting toy to be stored at our center inside an individually labeled pillowcase.  Please label all articles.  This pillowcase with nap necessities is to be taken home at the end of every other week and laundered.  From 3:30 to 4 p.m., we change diapers and serve afternoon snack.

There Are Choices

Choice Classes include interactive children’s enrichment offered on-site.  Choice Alef class includes gross motor activities as well as creative story time with puppets and audio accompaniment.  Choice Bet classes involve specialists offering classes each day such as dance, music, karate, gym or drama.  A registration form for Choice Bet classes is distributed to our 3 to 5 year olds in the fall.

ACEs Program

For children who don’t nap in the afternoon, we offer two different classes, depending on age.  Our ACE (Afternoon Children’s Enrichment) class is for pre-kindergarten children only and taught from 1:45 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.  This program IS NOT available on a drop-in basis.

Totally Awesome Afternoons

Our second afternoon class is “Totally Awesome Afternoons.”  This class is open to all other daycare regulars who have outgrown the need for a nap.  This program IS available on a drop-in basis (based on space availability, please give 24 hour notice).  The “Totally Awesome Afternoons” runs Monday through Friday, 1:45 to 4 p.m.
