B'nai Emet -> Departments -> Education Programs -> Early ChildhoodHere’s Some Food For ThoughtThe children will often make their own applesauce or cookies during the morning or afternoon and then later eat their creations (we bake out all germs). We usually make a cake to celebrate Israel’s birthday, latkes for Chanukkah, Hamantashen for Purim, etc. We also attempt to introduce new foods to your child. Some days we’ll encourage the children to be totally self-reliant or learn to pour from a pitcher. Some may end up having several servings and some may decide not to have any. The decisions are entirely theirs. Because of this, what your child tells you he or she had for snack may not truly represent what was offered. All children arriving before 8:00 a.m. are served a three-component breakfast including juice or fruit, milk, and cereal or grain. A nutritious snack is provided by daycare for all children after rest time. Please send a DAIRY bag lunch with your child. Because of our Kosher dairy kitchen, NO MEAT OR SHELLFISH are allowed. Each lunch must meet USDA nutritional standards which include foods in the four basic food groups: a protein, bread, fruit/vegetable, and milk. We will provide milk for all the children. Please do NOT send any candy or gum in your child’s lunch. Please make sure your child’s complete name is on his/her lunch bag since no lunch will be refrigerated. We encourage ice blocks to be enclosed in the lunch box. In the event of a staff member preparing an emergency lunch, you will be billed $5.00 per lunch. Lunch boxes can be placed in baskets outside of each classroom. |
