Getting Started
August, 2001
This is my first message as president of our congregation. I am honored
to have been called upon to assume the presidency of our synagogue, and
look forward to the challenges and opportunities that the next two years
will bring.
One of these challenges includes the successful completion of the Mitzvah
Fund, which many of our congregants have generously responded to. However,
it will take the participation of all of our congregants to the fullest
extent possible to secure the financial future of our synagogue. When
called upon, please respond with your fair share.
One of the opportunities that lie ahead is the opportunity to become one
of the many volunteers that make B’nai Emet the great family that it is.
Join the many that donate their time for one or more committees to see our
many wonderful programs through completion. No one person can do it alone
and every person counts. Each one of you can help your synagogue and at
the same time experience a great sense of reward and accomplishment.
Soon the High Holy Days will be here. For many it is a time to reevaluate
our priorities and commitments. This is a most appropriate time to make
our synagogue one of those priorities. You can start small. Do one
more thing than you did last year. Perhaps you can attend a service on
Sukkot. Maybe you will attend a orksho pon preparing for Passover.
Maybe you will stay for Shabbat services when you bring your kids for
Shabbat School. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started!
At this holiday season, I want to wish all of you, on behalf of the entire
leadership of B’nai Emet Synagogue, a joyous and healthy new year.
